At just 20 years old, young Zahra has to hide her faith in God in order to survive in Algeria, a country that ranks 15th on the list of countries where Christians are most persecuted in the world.
It was while listening to a sermon on the internet that the young woman became interested in the teachings of Jesus and the testimonies of other Christians who also had Islamic origins encouraged her to proceed in her faith.
Her family are unaware of her conversion, therefore, she lives in secret, fearing for her own life.
“I’m worried about how they’ll react if they find out about my conversion. They’ll definitely be offended. I prefer to practice my faith discreetly,” she told Open Doors.
After all, in many countries like Algeria, followers of the Lord Jesus can be attacked, arrested and even killed by their love for Him.
Contrastingly, in the UK, we have the privilege of practicing our faith openly, through attending church services, owning and reading our Bible, praying and even evangelising.
At the Universal Church, our local churches are open daily with services to help you develop a personal relationship with God and bless every area of your life.
