In Nigeria, Islamic police (Hisbah), responsible for the enforcement of Sharia law in the northwest of the country, prevented five young Christians from attending meetings in the church in the city of Kano.
The girls were walking to the church when they were stopped by the police of Hisbah, who detained them. The authorities also asked them to dress as Muslims and when they denied it, one of the police officers said they would be punished if they went to church.
Recurring cases of persecution continue to happen in Nigeria but Christian leaders in the country remain silent due to fear of retaliation. In the city of Kano, where this case happened, Christians are a minority and have no voice and many are jobless unless they convert to Islam.
On the other hand, in the UK we have the freedom to freely express our faith and seek Him in places of worship. The Universal Church has various platforms and ways in which you can ensure that you are constantly feeding your faith and remaining strong.
Throughout the ongoing purposes of faith, “Campaign of Revolt on Mount Sinai” and the “21 Days Fast of Daniel”, a special Be Inspired radio program will air every weeknight.
You can tune in for this special program, “The Journey of Faith,” via the Liberty Radio app or LibertyRadio.co.uk at 10:30pm from Monday to Friday.
Here you will receive a message empowering you to take actions of faith that will draw the attention of the Holy Spirit towards you.
Based on the faith of Moses, who said:
“(…) If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.” (Exodus 33:15)
Moses valued the Promised Presence (the Holy Spirit) more than the promised land (the blessings) and with this faith, He called the attention of God. Likewise, you are invited to please the Holy Spirit by prioritising Him.
If you would like to know more about these purposes of faith, connect every weeknight. Bishop James and Pastors will be joined together to pass an inspiring message from the Altar to your home!
If you have any issues getting connected, you can message us via the 24-Hour WhatsApp on 020 7686 6010.
