Why Does God Allow Me to Suffer?

Suffering
At some point in life, every person will face hardship. It is not a question of if we will encounter difficulties, but when. Struggles and suffering are part of life. Perhaps you’re facing a season of trials right now. You might be carrying pain in your heart, wrestling with questions like: Why did I go through a divorce? Why are my children struggling? Why do I feel this deep sadness? Why did I lose someone I loved?

These are not easy questions, but many have also asked, If God is all-loving, all-powerful, and all-knowing, why does He allow suffering?

One thing becomes clear when we reflect on our own experiences: suffering teaches us valuable lessons. It’s rarely in the joyful moments that we grow the most. Instead, It is through pain that our character is shaped. This doesn’t mean that God takes pleasure in our suffering. Quite the opposite—He takes no joy in our pain. But He can use it to bring about transformation.

One of the most important truths we can come to understand is this: while everyone will suffer in this world, we have a choice— we don’t have to remain in suffering. It’s possible to come out the other side changed and full of peace.

How? By deciding to believe in the One who has already suffered for us.

When we come to understand that Jesus Christ went to the cross and bore our griefs, our sorrows, and pain, something shifts. We realise we no longer have to carry it all ourselves. He took it upon Himself, so we could be free.

If you choose to believe in Him, your suffering doesn’t have to define your life. In fact, it can come to an end. That is the message God wants the whole world to hear: You don’t have to suffer alone anymore. Through Christ, you can find peace.

But how many people go through their entire lives without ever hearing this message? Not because God doesn’t speak, but because no one tells them.

If you are reading this article, you now know but there’s many others who have heard the story of Jesus’s birth, the baby in the manger, the virgin Mary, the inn with no room. Yet, they’ve never heard the true meaning of the cross: that it is the power of God to save all who believe.

There are countless people suffering today simply because they haven’t yet heard this truth. But that can change through you.

In John 4:39, the Samaritans came to believe in Jesus through the testimony of a woman who met Him at a well. In the same way, through your words, others can come to know that they too no longer need to suffer.

God wants to use your life. He wants to bring peace not only to you, but through you to others who are still searching.
