“…Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again’” (Luke 24:5-7).
Resurrection Sunday is a powerful reminder of Christ’s victory over death, but also a call to examine our own lives—our hopes, our relationships, our faith—and ask: what in me has died, and what is God calling back to life?
1. Dead Dreams
Life doesn’t always go to plan. The business you started may have failed, or the course you began might have ended without earning a degree. Perhaps, the passion you once had for a career or calling may now feel buried beneath responsibilities and regret. But God specialises in breathing new life into old dreams or giving us new ones that are even better.
2. Dead Relationships
Whether through conflict, betrayal, or time and distance, relationships can wither. Perhaps there’s a friend, family member, or even a spouse you’ve lost connection with. Jesus’ resurrection is a reminder that restoration is possible.
3. Dead Joy
Grief, stress, and fatigue can drain the joy from our souls. Smiles turn into masks, and laughter feels like a distant memory. Yet Scripture tells us: “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5). The risen Jesus brings a joy that no circumstance can steal.
4. Dead Purpose
Do you feel like you’re just surviving instead of truly living? In Christ, every life has meaning. The resurrection is proof that God has a plan for you, even when it seems like everything is falling apart. Dead purpose can be revived with fresh vision.
5. Dead Faith
Sometimes we find ourselves going through the motions, attending church, reciting prayers, worship songs—yet our hearts feel distant. Faith can grow cold through disappointment, unanswered prayers, or simply the wear and tear of life. But Resurrection Sunday reminds us that even faith, once thought buried, can rise again. It takes just one moment to ignite the spark once more.
On Resurrection Sunday, we are reminded that the grave is not the end of the story. If God could raise Jesus from the dead, He can also breathe life into the things we thought were beyond hope.
So, ask yourself today:
Just as the angels said to the women at the tomb, “He is not here, but is risen!” Join us at 10am on Resurrection Sunday. Because He is risen, there is always hope and what was dead can rise again.
