In a world with so many available options, people usually follow the path that most pleases their senses and captivates their hearts. The big problem is that the heart is deceitful, as God warns us through the prophet Jeremiah (see Jeremiah 17:9-10), and being guided by feelings and desires often brings only harm.
Some suffer the effects of wrong decisions made by third parties, such as betrayal or abuse, carrying a deep pain that doesn’t leave them alone. Faced with countless problems and unable to see a way out, they wish to rewind time and choose a different path. But what if we told you that a fresh start is still within reach? Despite past mistakes or failures, there’s always an opportunity for a new beginning.
Take a GPS navigation system, for instance. If you make a wrong turn and deviate from the originally suggested route, the GPS detects this and recalculates a new route based on your current location, guiding you back toward your intended destination.
You may be asking, “But what does a GPS have to do with my life?” Even though many are unaware of it, we have free access to the most efficient and reliable GPS in life: the Lord Jesus. His teachings and presence guide us through uncertain and turbulent paths, helping us make the right decisions to not only live life to the fullest but also reach our ultimate destination – salvation!
By trusting God’s plan to re-calculate our route and surrendering our burdens to Him, we can find the willpower to let go of the past and embrace a new path filled with hope and purpose. No matter what you’ve done up until now, Jesus offers forgiveness and a fresh start. However, it’s up to each one of us to decide whether to accept His guidance.
When you’re driving, ignoring the GPS won’t stop your car and prevent you from moving forward – although if you do this, you will never reach your destination. It’s no different with Jesus. He doesn’t force anyone to follow Him, but if you decide to recalculate your route and let Him be your GPS, you will surely reap blessings you can hardly imagine, as His Word says:
“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43.18-19).
