What If One Person Could Change an Entire Family?

Intercessor

Unfortunately, it is common to hear stories or read news of aggression – whether physical, verbal or emotional – and even murders among family members. Not to mention countless other problems that affect many families, such as addictions, division, poverty and separation. You may know families dealing with these issues, or perhaps you are experiencing them in your own home.

Many people dream of having a restored and united family. For Christians, this includes the desire for family members to share the same faith. The good news is that this dream can become a reality. If only one person is willing to intercede for their loved ones, they can transform their entire family.

In the Holy Scriptures, we see the example of Abraham, who interceded with the Lord for the city of Sodom (Genesis 18:23-33) and, as a result, saved Lot – his nephew – and his family (Genesis 19). This is just one example of a person of faith acting out of love for their neighbour and mediating with God on behalf of others according to their needs. An intercessor is someone who makes themselves available to help those close to them, and who is closer to us than our family members?

God is always looking for an intercessor, as described in Isaiah 59:16: “He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; and His own righteousness, it sustained Him.” Based on this Word, a true Christian is called to be a steadfast intercessor, especially for loved ones who, for some reason, are unable to fight for themselves.

The greatest act of intercession was the Salvation achieved through the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus. In 1 John 2:2, we read, “…we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” Thanks to the sacrifice made on the cross, the Only Begotten Son intercedes with God so that we can, not only be part of His heavenly family, but also intercede for our earthly families.

This intercession is carried out through your daily prayers, acts of faith and your behaviour in everyday life – by showing kindness to your family members, treating them with respect and being wise with your words.

Now that you understand the importance of being an intercessor, we invite you to a special gathering where you will intercede for your family and fight for their lives – both here and in eternity – through faith.
