What does your house say about you?

What does your house say about you?

Although we can’t physically see what is going on inside of us emotionally and spiritually, many things can act as an internal X-ray, reflecting our internal condition. In this week’s meeting, which was the 8th session of our Inner Healing Course, we learnt that one of those things is our house. Your house paints a picture of what is going on inside of you, and you have to pay attention to the details.

What is your house saying about you?

It’s impossible for someone who’s organised internally to be messy on the outside. The same discipline you apply to clean and organise your inside usually extends to the outside. If you are someone who is careful not to allow any dirt to remain inside of you, such as grudges, bad thoughts, judgment, malice, etc., then that discipline will extend to your house. You will not tolerate any mess in your home either.

The opposite also applies. If your house is messy, it means you also have a tendency to leave an internal mess inside of you. You are someone who will find it hard to be empathetic towards others, to forgive and to be accepting. You will also tend to be tolerant of your own mistakes. So, looking at your house right now, what does it say about you? Are you an organised person, a messy person or someone who only cleans at surface value, but allows dirt to remain hidden under the carpet? Do not ignore these crucial signs, but rather, use them as a guide to start fixing what needs fixing.

Reverse the signs

If your internal X-ray is not painting a good picture, it’s not the end of the world for you. You can reverse these signs. Often, contrary to what many people believe, it has to start on the outside. Many people wait to feel motivated to organise their homes, before they can really get down to it. But, normally, a disorganised, cluttered home is oppressive and that motivation simply won’t come. The secret is to start organising your house, despite how you feel. The motivation will follow! Once you fix the outside, you will probably also become motivated to do the same with the inside.

Those present were advised to start throwing away things they no longer needed or used. De-cluttering is the first step to organising a house. It’s hard to focus on cleaning, where there are a lot of things on the way. Once you’ve removed all the clutter from the house, the next step is to organise and clean what is left.

Maintenance is crucial

However, once your physical and internal house is clean, it doesn’t remain clean forever. You need to keep it that way, with regular maintenance and touch-ups. The same applies internally. You need to be constantly observing your reactions, your feelings and your thoughts, to make sure that they remain clean and smelling fresh.

We can help you with your internal maintenance. Participate in our live women’s seminars, every Sunday at 5pm, at the Rainbow Theatre, 232 Seven Sisters Road, London, N4 3NX. For other branches near you, call our 24hr-Helpline on 020 7686 6000.
