the Rainbow Theatre,
Words have power and the consequences of breaking the promises you make are plentiful. Going back on your word can mean that you lose your credibility in your relationships as people lose their trust in you. However, keeping your word is not only about protecting your reputation and relationship with others but also about valuing yourself and behaving in a way that you respect.
On Saturday 27 May, members of the Victory Youth Group (VYG) from across the UK gathered together in the Rainbow Theatre, Finsbury Park for the VDay of the Vow. Many preparations took place before the day which saw youths from different walks of life attending.
Pastor David, the coordinator of the VYG explained, “This was a very special event for all. For many it was their first ever VDay event and they truly enjoyed it.” There was a dance, spoken word and song performance, all containing the same message: The importance of making a vow with God.
For many, the highlight of the event was the proposal which took place during the event. Hundreds of youths cheered and filmed the young man on his knees who asked his girlfriend if they could get married that same day in the event. To the surprise and disappointment of many, this was a skit which ended in the girlfriend expressing that she didn’t feel ready to marry him anymore. This was a visual analogy to the youths to illustrate how God feels when someone doesn’t trust Him.
At the end of the meeting, Bishop James, who oversees the work of the Universal Church in the UK, delivered the message which was relatable to young people. He spoke about the importance of the youth valuing themselves and pursuing a life with God because He (God) can provide the best for us.
The VYG always look forward to hosting new events and welcoming new youths to take part. If you are between the ages 14-25 and want to be a part of this group you are invited to find out more by visiting us at your local Universal Church.
