The Universal Church holds the Community Care Event

Community Care Event 1

Everyone likes to receive; however, research has shown that a charitable deed also provides benefits to both the physical and mental well-being of the giver.

A study observing a large group of American adults found that those who volunteered more experienced greater measures of joy. Giving to others not only helps relieve stress but can boost self-confidence and feelings of accomplishment.

The Bible speaks of these benefits and makes it clear that “(…) It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)

That’s why on Saturday 8 April, our volunteers gladly dedicated the day to caring for members of the community at the Community Care event. This event took place in selected locations across the UK and provided those who most need our usual food bank services as well as additional pampering. We also offered free clothes, a three-course sit-down meal, blood pressure checks, as well as pampering and haircuts, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

There are many people in society who feel unrecognised and don’t have anyone to care for them. This event came to remind them that they are important and restored their self-esteem. A beneficiary reported with a smile on her face, “The team was so friendly and helpful. They not only offered me a cup of tea but a smile which meant a lot to me!”

Volunteers nationwide were happy to make such an impact on their local community and eagerly look forward to the next opportunity to show they care!
