The Problem You Cannot Ignore: Your Soul

News

We all face problems in different areas of life. Financial struggles, health challenges, family conflicts, heartbreaks, and many other difficulties trouble us daily. Often, we spend most of our time trying to solve these issues, seeking ways to ease our pain and improve our lives. However, there is a problem greater than all of these – one that is not visible but has eternal consequences: our soul.

The importance of our soul is something Jesus emphasised when He said: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36-37).

Jesus told the parable of a man who prospered greatly, accumulated wealth, and secured his earthly well-being. However, all that material success did not guarantee the well-being of his soul. To this man, who only sought prosperity, Jesus said:

(…) ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ (Luke 12:20).

It is wonderful if everything is going well in your life—if your family is united, you are prospering, healthy, and happy in your relationships. These are blessings from God, and we should strive for them. However, as important as they are, they are temporary. Nothing lasts forever, except our soul.

The soul is invisible, yet it was for our souls that Jesus came into the world. He is not looking for those who consider themselves good, but for those whose hearts are sincere before Him. The Kingdom of Heaven is for the repentant, those who recognise their need for God. Therefore, do not let physical needs take priority over spiritual ones. Seek His presence, pray more, meditate more on God’s Word, and do not postpone for tomorrow what can be done today.

Only the Lord Jesus can give us true peace. When we open our souls to God, He comes to meet us. He promised never to leave us alone but to send the Holy Spirit to be our Comforter. We live by the mercy of the Lord, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His power has no limits and can completely transform our lives.

The Holy Spirit strengthens, comforts, and leads us into communion with the Father, allowing us to experience His peace amid adversity.

When we put God first, fear is replaced by confidence, and the peace of Christ reigns in our hearts. In times of tribulation, He sustains us. As Jesus said: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20).

Only Jesus can give us life because He is the Creator of life. When He dwells within us, we find peace for our souls. Therefore, it is essential to meditate on God’s Word and seek salvation, for our soul is eternal.
