The principle of a relationship with God is forgiveness. As a result, those who harbour resentment in their hearts, by insisting on not forgiving their neighbours, become wicked in the eyes of God. Jesus said in the Holy Scriptures:
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matthew 6:14-15)
God is love and also mercy, but, above all, justice. Only those who grant forgiveness are able to receive it.
The human heart is corrupt and because we have no control over it, it tends to be inclined to its bad feelings. Therefore, the Word of God exhorts us to continually use faith and care for our soul:
“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23)
We human beings were not created for death, but rather to enjoy the eternal and abundant life granted by the Lord Jesus through the baptism with the Holy Spirit.
However, this is only possible for those who forgive and prioritise presenting a pure heart before Him. Therefore, those who wish to receive forgiveness and the Spirit of Peace must first make use of intelligent faith, going against their own will and subjecting themselves to the will of the Most High.

“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth (…)” (Ephesians 6:14 NKJV)
When preparing for war, soldiers wore a belt that protected the abdomen and torso region, the most vulnerable part of the human being, where their vital organs are located.
Likewise, God instructs Christians to stick to the Truth, which is His Word, because only then will they be ready to resist evil.
