What is something new? The Merriam-Webster Dictionary says “new” is something that has recently come into existence.
It may seem obvious, but it isn’t. Many enter the New Year with the same old habits and reactions they had in previous years. They make the upcoming year a sort of bad remake of the previous year. However, the Holy Spirit advises us to walk in newness of life and there is no better time to remember this than at the turn of the year.
Everyone is talking about “new”. New year, new life, new everything. However, this only happens when we leave behind last year’s rubbish, and start with a renewed faith, with the expectation that what hasn’t happened until now, will happen. Once renewed by the Spirit of Newness of Life, we will have the reactions we did not have, the ideas we still haven’t had and, as a consequence, we will see the results we haven’t seen yet. The new is full of possibilities. It is full of opportunities and achievements, not relying on luck or attempts, but trusting in the Word, which confirms that God keeps His promises.
One of the best things has been, to spend the last days of the last year in the Fast of Daniel, meditating on the things of God and strengthening our relationship with Him. By thinking of new things, there’s no doubt that starting the year doing the Fast will make a great difference in our way of seeing things in the months that follow. I thank God for this inspiration.
May the year of 2016 be new! May you receive the blessings that haven’t happened yet! May you get the answers you’ve been waiting for! May God give you the inspirations He hasn’t given you yet! May salvation reach where it has not been yet! May the Church grow and develop like it hasn’t grown and developed until today! May we see the power of our God, His mercy, His love and His direction like we haven’t seen yet! May He surprise us and may we know how to answer His calling.
“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:18, 19)
May God bless you!
