different walks of life,
On Saturday 24th June the Liberty Event took place in our Universal Church in Leeds.
The main goal of the event was to spread awareness to the local community about the work of the community groups in the church and to offer spiritual, emotional and physical support to all present on the day.
The weeks leading up to the big day were jam-packed with the many preparations to make this event the best possible for all the attendees.
Each of the community groups had stalls targeted for various groups of people from different walks of life, such as activities for the seniors, youths and more!
The Caleb group volunteers gave their best to provide a wonderful experience for the seniors with pampering and beauty treatments.
The VYG (Victory Youth Group) presented lively performances and interacted with the crowd and the volunteers of the CBC (Children’s Biblical Centre) provided face painting for the children and a bouncy castle.
The Patient Care Group offered blood pressure checks and at the Beat Depression stall, there were advisors ready to offer a listening ear and an encouraging word to those who were feeling down.
There was also the weekly Food Bank (which takes place every Saturday 11am-1pm) where the attendees could collect food parcels to take home to their families.
As well as the members of the community, we also received the police and councillor who were very excited to be a part of this event. We are sure Liberty Event had a positive impact on the community of Leeds. The volunteers look forward to the next opportunity to give back to the community!
