Christmas in the UK has evolved into an extravagant celebration, marked by holiday decorations, gift-giving, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Much of its prominence has been driven by marketing, and over time, the holiday has absorbed numerous traditions. Although, it is often said to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, for many, His words and teachings are far from the focal point of the day.
While Christmas is a joyful celebration for many, it can also be a challenging time for others. For some, it serves as a painful reminder of loss, separation, loneliness, or unresolved conflicts. The season’s financial demands can also weigh heavily on those who lack the means to fund its many expectations. If you find Christmas overwhelming, consider giving yourself the gift of a fresh perspective. The Lord Jesus promised:
“Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
This Christmas, the Universal Church welcomes you to spend the day with us. Join us on Wednesday, 25 December, at 10am at your local branch to begin your Christmas with Christ. Bring your burdens, sorrows, and pains to Him, and He will wipe away your tears. You are encouraged to bring your family and even photos of loved ones who cannot attend. Let’s place our families under God’s protection and celebrate the most important relationship of all—our relationship with the Lord Jesus. This is your chance to set the tone for a transformative new year.
After the service, you’re invited to enjoy a warm and hearty Christmas lunch at one of the following branches between 12pm and 2pm: Finsbury Park, Catford, Glasgow, Hackney, Leeds, Luton, Manchester, Nottingham and Peterborough. Click here for the addresses.
