According to the International Christian Concern, terrorists and militants invaded two Christian communities in the State of Benue in Nigeria.
‘Terrorists, accompanied by armed militants, first attacked the village of Igba-Ukyro, where they killed five Christians, and then went to a second Village, Tse Baka, where they killed another person,’ a local resident told Morning Star News.
Over the past 3 weeks, numerous cases of persecution have resulted in 37 deaths, making Nigeria one of the most dangerous places to live out the Christian faith.
This year, Nigeria ranked sixth place on the 2023 World Persecution List and in 2022 Nigeria occupied the first place among the countries where it had the most Christians killed for their faith in the world. In total there were 5014 who died, according to Open Doors.
The Lord Jesus predicted these current events in Matthew 24. He warned His disciples that in the last days, many would be persecuted and even killed for their faith:
“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake” (Matthew 24:9 NKJV)
Nonetheless, there is hope for those who remain faithful to God and don’t cave into pressure – the promise of entering the Kingdom of Heaven!
