What do you think about when you hear the word ‘love’?
Togetherness, happiness, commitment, and marriage, among other things, right?
You think about the butterflies you get in your stomach when you approach someone you really like. You think about the moment you finally say the ‘L’ word to each other. You think of having so many happy moments with that person.
However, in today’s society, finding love can be like trying to find a needle in the desert! It’s full of complications and confusion. Suddenly, the thought of finding the love of your life seems like a lifelong treasure hunt!
But the truth is this: no matter how many misconceptions there may be about love (and there are many), it is still possible to find the right person. All it takes is being able to discern the good from the bad and knowing what you want in a relationship. Furthermore, it is important to love yourself. And, although you may be thinking, ‘This is so clichéd, everyone says that!’ try and think about it like this…
Imagine someone who has low self-esteem and doesn’t believe in themselves. When it comes to their love life, they settle for anyone because they don’t truly realise what a great catch they are. They get into relationships with people who aren’t right for them and allow themselves to be taken advantage of because they don’t believe that they can find the right person. This is what happens when you don’t love yourself!
But now think of when you do love yourself…
You know that you’re a great person and you know what you want in life. You fully embrace who you are and know your value. As a result of this, you can discern who is worth your time and who isn’t. Because you love yourself, you know and believe that you can find the right person, so you don’t settle for less. And this characteristic makes you even more attractive to others!

When it comes to finding love, as well as keeping a relationship alive, there are so many things to learn. It is always a work in progress. When we keep learning and investing in ourselves, as well as in our relationship, that’s when we see great results!
