IntelliMen – Challenge #29

INTELLIMEN LogoMen. Intelligent.

CHALLENGE #29

Don’t start before completing Challenge #28.
If you want to join the IntelliMen Project, start from Challenge #1.

Challenge: Read an edifying book in approximately 30 days.

Explanation: Meditate on this proverb: A wise man is strong, yes, a man of knowledge increases strength. (Proverbs 24:5)

Wisdom and knowledge are worth more than muscles. Very few other things stimulate your intelligence and spirit more than a good book. That’s why our 29th challenge is asking you to read an edifying book in approximately 30 days. I’m going to recommend some books to you here. If you have read them, consider re-reading the one that helped you the most, or ask someone you trust and respect, like your Pastor, for a suggestion of what to read. I have included links to where you can buy these books online. Most ca be found at your nearest Universal.

  1. Are we all God’s children? (Edir Macedo) – A book that will have you questioning myths and religious lies in the world.
  2. Possessed Believers (David Higginbotham) – Why do some people believe in God but not see results from their faith? David is an old friend and work colleague. He tells his personal experiences growing up as a Pastor’s son in the USA and his encounter with the Gospel he did not really know.
  3. The V-Woman (Cristiane Cardoso) – You weren’t expecting this one on a list for IntelliMen, but an intelligent man has knowledge about women and values them. That’s what this book will do for you. Highly recommended for all men.
  4. The true meaning of the cross (Marcelo Crivella) – Almost everybody knows Jesus was crucified. But the majority don’t know why or what this means to them.
  5. The supernatural power of faith (Edir Macedo) – One of the best books that I’ve read about faith.
  6. The profile of a youth of God (Renato Cardoso) – For young people who are looking to be Christians in a world without God.
  7. Authority and submission (Watchmen Nee) – A classic, one of the most spiritual books I’ve read. Those who do the work of God or those who simply want to understand the why’s and limits to obedience shouldn’t miss out on this book.
  8. Mere Christianity (C.S Lewis) – Pure spiritual intelligence.
  9. Kings of Israel (Edir Macedo) – Men. Leaders. Mistakes. Achievements and disasters. An essential study for those who want to learn from human weaknesses and virtues. A manual for leaders.

Now just choose one. Attention… “I don’t like to read” and “I don’t have the time” are NOT what an IntelliMan would say. IntelliMen don’t give excuses, they act.

Notebook: Read a good book. Learn how to improve yourself through this book. Write down in your Notebook some lessons that you took from your reading, practical things you can include in your life.

Official Partner: Speak about the book choice you made, and why. What are you learning from the reading. Exchange lessons you have learned from the book. Here’s something that could be very interesting for your partnership: decide to read the same book!

Deadline: You may begin working on this task immediately and complete it in a week, then go on to Challenge #30. You should already buy the book and begin to read it this week, although you can take up to 30 days to read it.

Post: After – and only after – you have completed the challenge, post your comments – on the IntelliMenWorld Facebook or Twitter page, (not on your own page) and write the following:

IntelliMen Challenge #29 done: I began reading… (write the name of the book you decided to read.)
