IntelliMen – Challenge #28

INTELLIMEN LogoMen. Intelligent.

CHALLENGE #28

Don’t start before completing Challenge #27.
If you want to join the IntelliMen Project, start from Challenge #1.

Challenge: Solve an interesting problem – whether it’s yours or someone else’s.

Explanation: Men are problem-solvers. IntelliMen are specialists in solving problems. When God created man He gave him tasks. Rule over the animals on the earth, the ones in the sea and in the air. Cultivate the land. Guard it and protect it. Give names to the animals. He let man figure out how to do all of this for himself. Men enjoy discovering, creating and inventing solutions to all types of problems on earth, unlike women. (I’m not underestimating the feminine brain, not at all. I’m simply pointing out the natural inclination of a man to look for and find solutions to a problem. Women normally look for connections in relationships. Men seek acknowledgement through achievement.)

To be an intelligent man means being a specialist in solving problems. A man who runs away from problems, takes a couple steps back, or goes off to cry in a corner is not seen as a man. Men face problems and find intelligent solutions.

And so, your challenge this week is to find an interesting problem and solve it. What is an interesting problem? Basically it’s a problem that:

  1.  You can solve (you have the ability and the authority)
  2.  Is worth solving because it will improve your life or someone else’s life

A hole in your roof is an interesting problem. You can’t stop the rain, and even if you could, that wouldn’t benefit anyone. But you can do something about the hole in your roof, and you’ll probably get a lot of good feedback from the people you live with if you do.  It’s something that will benefit you and the people around you. (Just make sure you know how to do it properly.)

Find interesting problems that need to be solved in your life or in someone else’s. Give yourself this challenge. You definitely can’t solve the economic crisis in your country by yourself, but you can find something just as challenging in your life, or in the life of a family member or friend.

You won’t have difficulty finding problems that need solutions. In your life, your house, or your job… There’s never a shortage of problems. What do you or people around you always complain about? Why don’t you quit complaining and just fix the problem once and for all, even if it’s not your responsibility?

Notebook: If you already know what the problem is, write it down in your notebook. If you don’t yet know what it is, walk through your house with your notebook. Go into every room. Go outside and take a walk around your house. Write down the problems you see around your house. Then write down the names of those who live with you. What do these people generally complain about? Write at least one problem next to each name. Do the same thing for work or for school. Then, from this list choose ONE problem that you will solve. (Don’t do anything that requires permission without first asking… and don’t do anything that will put you or others at risk.)

Official Partner: Your partner may need help solving a problem… This is not mandatory, but it might be something to consider. Either way, talk about this challenge and what you decided to do.

Deadline: You may begin working on this task immediately and complete it in a week, then go on to Challenge #29. You might not be able to solve this problem before the next challenge, but you should begin working on it this week.

Post: After – and only after – you have completed the challenge, post your comments – on the IntelliMenWorld Facebook or Twitter page, (not on your own page) and write the following:

IntelliMen Challenge #28 done: I’m a specialist in solving problems. (Add comments about the problems you decided to solve in this challenge.)
