CHALLENGE #11

Don’t start before completingChallenge #10
If you want to join the IntelliMen, start fromChallenge #1.

Challenge: Get into the habit of exercising for an hour at least three times a week. (Even if you already do this, read this post all the way to the end.)

Explanation: An intelligent man should be the picture of discipline. Whether he likes it or not, the first impression he gives of himself is through his body. Before he opens his mouth, shows his capacity at a job, before people even have a chance to get a glimpse of his personality, a man’s first impression is through his body. I’m not saying your goal should be the physique of a bodybuilder or a six pack. But we should project good health, strength, and physical endurance.

In order to reach this goal a training routine is essential. We don’t want to become your personal trainer, but we do want to challenge you to do something about your physical conditioning. The challenge is to adopt the discipline of regular exercise. You don’t need to have a gym membership or a personal trainer. Of course, if that’s the way you want to go, no problem. The main thing is for you to determine that you’re going to exercise at least three times a week (that is, more or less every 2-3 days,) even if it’s at home.

If you’re new to this subject, I suggest that you consult a doctor or a qualified professional. If you’re a student, you should be able to find a capable person at your school. Many medium and large sized companies offer this service to their workers. Also, if you have health insurance you could probably set up an appointment with your doctor to discuss this. And if you don’t have access to any of these things, well my friend, if you have a mouth and Google you should be able to figure anything out. It’s important that you find an exercise plan that works for your body, physical condition, and age — and that fits into your schedule. Don’t come to me with lame excuses like, “I don’t have time to exercise.” Do I have to tell you that your health is more important than watching TV, playing video games, or surfing the net? Can it be that you can’t move  your schedule around and find three hours a week to take care of your body?

Okay then, so there’s your challenge. No excuses, no exceptions: an hour of exercise, three times every seven days, every week. Will you push forward or give up?

(If you already do this weekly, your challenge is to post on the IntelliMen Facebook page some tips on how you keep up with your physical training and maintain motivation and discipline. If you take part in a sport which requires a considerable amount of physical activity every week, it can be included in the 3 hours.)

Notebook: Make a list of the exercise routines that you will follow over the 3 days. This will make you familiar with what you’re going to do, and will help you stay on track during your training session.

Official Partner: Speak to your partner about the type of training you’re going to do and ask him about his. It’s not a requirement, but this would be a great opportunity for the two of you to set up an hour to work-out together, if possible.

Deadline: You may begin working on this task immediately and complete it before Challenge #12 which will be in a week.

Post: After – and only after – you have completed the challenge, post a picture of yourself exercising on the IntelliMenWorld Facebook or Twitter page, (not on your own page) and write the following:

IntelliMen Challenge #11 done: I began my physical training and will continue to exercise 3 times a week. (Add any other comment you want to make. What about sharing the type of exercise you decided to do, or sharing some tips with your fellow IntelliMen?)
