the help of God,
In a competition, everyone is contending for first place. After all, no one wants to be second, it’s the first place that wins the prize. This position can only be occupied by one owner and cannot be shared.
What have you placed first in your life?
In the Bible, God instructs His people to put Him first and to trust in Him. That is to put Him first in all matters, from their daily decisions to the smallest things. Why? Because like anyone would want, God wants and deserves to be recognised in our life and by doing so He will also recognise our daily needs and provide for them.
Following on from our purpose of The Goliath’s Fall, we can learn from David’s example of putting God in first place and always giving God the recognition for his victory:
“So the priest said, “The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it. For there is no other except that one here.” (1 Samuel 21:9)
The sword in this Bible verse symbolised the victory over Goliath. David chose to bring the sword to the temple as a way of recognising that his victory wasn’t gained by his own strength but by the help of God.
Being second is a matter of recognition, it’s you saying, “God, without you I can’t achieve what I intend on doing and with you I can do so much more.”
