How to have self-love and never compare yourself to others again.

how to have self love

There is something very curious about human beings: we were created unique and singular. Still, most of us carry something controversial within – the inclination to compare ourselves to others.

It’s common to look at someone and compare yourself to them. You compare your hair, your eyes, your height, your skin, your intelligence, etc. However, even though it’s something common, comparing yourself to others isn’t really smart. It’s like comparing an orange to an apple. The only similarity between the two is that they’re both fruits. Apart from that, everything else is different.

So, next time a thought of comparison comes into your mind, do the following: first, focus on yourself and appreciate what you have. The second point can be found in 1 Corinthians 7:23: “You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.”

This means that your value is not in what people think about you, because you have already been bought at a good price. You are so valuable in God’s eyes that He paid for you with the life of His only Son, the Lord Jesus, and sent Him to die and shed His blood on the cross for you. This was the price paid for you to belong to God, and consequently, this is your value. So, how could you increase or decrease your value? This is not possible. Your value is already fixed, it has already been determined.

However, even though we have all been bought by God, many still refuse to surrender their lives to Him. As a result, He cannot take possession of that person. But when you have this understanding that the Lord Jesus has already paid the price for you, and you decide to surrender yourself to Him, then you stop questioning your worth and accept that you belong to Him.
