How Have You Been Treating What is Sacred?

Sacred

Every individual is unique and has their own personality, but one thing that everyone appreciates is respect. It feels good to arrive at a place and be warmly welcomed and treated with consideration. Acts of respect make us feel valued and important. In contrast, disrespect can create discomfort, insecurity and division. Now, if we, as simple human beings, appreciate respect, how much more does God?

In all His greatness, God cares deeply about each one of us. This is evident in the fact that He sent His Only Begotten Son to save us. Still, many people dismiss this incredible sacrifice because they have become contaminated by worldly perspectives and have lost their reverence for the sacred. Evil has been working tirelessly to make people lose their awareness of what is holy – simply because this distances human beings from God. When we are far from the Creator, His Divine plans are not fulfilled and suffering prevails.

It’s common to hear people saying that certain things are “sacred” to them, suggesting that they could not live without those things. It’s no different in the spiritual realm: the sacred is essential and cannot be overlooked in a person’s life; it deserves our utmost attention and respect. However, many sacred things are being treated with disdain and disrespect. The Name of Jesus, for instance, is often used in jokes or casually mentioned alongside swear words. Similarly, it’s not uncommon to see the Bible – the Holy Scriptures – being torn up during protests around the world.

Even life itself, which is sacred to the Creator, is not being valued. People kill those around them – even family members – for trivial reasons like money. Marriage has increasingly been ridiculed and disregarded. In summary, evil has made everything holy seem old-fashioned with the sole objective of preventing people from entering the Kingdom of Heaven.

Consequently, influenced by this evil way of thought, many have been suffering in their health, love life, finances and especially their spiritual lives. However, it’s not too late to restore awareness of sacred values. The book of Hebrews 12:14 states, “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.” It’s time to re-evaluate our attitudes and truly prioritise God, respecting everything He has designated as sacred. In return, He will take care of us, providing all we need to live a blessed life both here and in Eternity.

At the Universal Church, we are dedicating November as “The Month of the Sacred.” Take this opportunity to honour God and strengthen your relationship with Him by taking part in our daily meetings at your nearest Universal Church – especially on Sunday at 10am. We look forward to seeing you – and so does God!
