“Now three times a year Solomon offered burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar which he built for the Lord, and he burned incense with them on the altar that was before the Lord.” (1 Kings 9:25 NKJV)
There is an unbreakable correlation between the Altar and God. We see in the Bible that when people valued the Altar of God, they were in reality valuing God. Since God is invisible, the Altar becomes a representation of the One we serve.
David and Solomon valued the Altar and we see that their lives and the kingdom represented how they cared for the Altar and the Temple of God.
However, in the time of Ahab, Elijah had to rebuild the Altar that was in ruins (1 Kings 18:31) and the lives of the people of Israel at the time reflected exactly that – they were also in ruins.
Let us always remember that it was on the Altar that we found our God, and from there never depart.
“Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and on the harp I will praise You, O God, my God.” (Psalms 43:4 NKJV)
