Debt can feel like a heavy burden – the worry of how to pay the next bill, the dread of opening letters, avoiding phone calls, or the panic of wondering if a knock at the door might be a bailiff. Watching your money disappear as soon as it hits your account can be frightening and overwhelming.
Yet, even in the middle of financial difficulty, there is hope. You can find strength and direction to move forward. Challenges have the potential to become stepping stones to growth. Let’s look at a biblical proverb that speaks of four things that can give us insight into dealing with debt:
“There are three things which are too wonderful for me, yes four which I do not understand: the way of an eagle in the air, the way of a serpent on a rock, the way of a ship in the midst of the sea, and the way of a man with a virgin” (Proverbs 30:18-19).
When we’re faced with debt, it can feel like we’ve been thrown out of the nest, left to fall with no safety net. But just as a young eagle learns to fly by being pushed from the nest, we too can learn to rise above our difficulties. It’s easy to complain or give up when things get tough, but challenges help us build endurance. With each trial, you grow stronger and better equipped for the future.
Eagles soar at high heights, strong and unshaken by the pressure. Likewise, don’t rely only on your own strength. Seek spiritual strength, pray, and trust that God is with you. Faith gives you the ability to overcome what seems impossible.
A snake is cautious and patient, waiting for the right moment to act. This teaches us to avoid rushing into decisions when under financial pressure. Don’t be drawn in by quick fixes or promises of easy money. These often lead to deeper trouble. Instead, take time to find the right solution. Be wise with your choices, stand firm on a solid foundation – the rock, which represents God’s Word. It may take longer than you’d like, but when your financial recovery is built on wisdom and patience, it will last. Trust in the process, and you’ll see the change.
Life is full of unexpected storms, especially when money is tight. Just like a ship sails through waves and rough weather, you need to keep going, even when things get tough.
Stay steady, adjust where needed, and don’t give up. Your circumstances may change, but with faith, you can ride out the storm and reach calmer waters. God hasn’t forgotten you – He will guide you through it all.
When you’re in love, you naturally go the extra mile, not because you have to, but because you want to. The same mindset can transform the way you approach your finances. Especially when it comes to debt, being in a job you enjoy makes a huge difference.
If you’re stuck in work that drains you, every payment feels like a burden. But when you’re doing something you love, passion turns obligation into motivation and that’s when real progress happens.
