Life’s challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving us with the sense that all colour has faded. Unexpected tragedies, personal struggles, and emotional turmoil can make the world appear bleak and devoid of joy.
A devastating example of this occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 16th March, when a tragic fire engulfed Club Pulse, a nightclub in the town of Kocani, North Macedonia. Sparked by stage pyrotechnics during a rock concert, the fire rapidly spread across the ceiling, causing chaos as attendees scrambled to safety. Musicians desperately urged people to flee while firefighters carried victims from the burning building.
The disaster claimed the lives of at least 59 people, with 155 others sustaining injuries-ranging from severe burns and smoke inhalation to wounds inflicted during the frantic rush towards the club’s only exit. Among those injured, 20 remain in critical condition, and children as young as 16 were among the victims.
In response to this tragedy, North Macedonia has declared a seven-day period of mourning. The pain and sorrow are immeasurable, as exemplified by a grieving mother who lost her only child in the fire. In her anguish, she cried, “I only had one child, just one, and you took her away from me.”
Events like this cast a shadow over people’s lives, leaving them feeling lost and struggling to find light in the darkness. Perhaps you, too, have encountered situations that have drained the colour from your world. Whether it be grief, financial hardship, loneliness, or other personal battles, the weight of these struggles can be difficult to bear.
For those experiencing emotional lows, life can feel like an unpredictable Ferris wheel, with fleeting moments of happiness quickly replaced by deep sadness. Even simple tasks, such as studying, working, or basic self-care, can begin to feel insurmountable. You may have sought help in various places but still feel as though nothing has truly brought peace to your soul.
If this resonates with you, know that there is hope. On Sunday, 23rd March, Universal Churches worldwide will be holding a special event called Life in Colour, dedicated to helping individuals rediscover joy and purpose in their lives.
This event will offer:
No matter how grey your life may seem right now, it is possible to find hope. You do not have to remain trapped in a world devoid of colour. You are not alone, and your life can once again be filled with joy, hope, and meaning.
