Each morning presents us with a blank page, an opportunity to do everything new and different. Take advantage of this opportunity!
“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23).
God renews His mercies every morning. Every day, He gives humanity a new chance.
The good you did back then was good for that time. Have you always done the right things? Very good! But you have to keep doing it. Yesterday’s good was only enough for yesterday.
We carry more of the bad past than the good because bad memories and events are more traumatic. Everything from our past that we carry within us holds us back, tying us up in the present and the future.
Perhaps you are punishing and condemning yourself – the past usually condemns us by saying: “Why did you do this? You are condemned to live like this”.
But God is different. He said to the woman caught in adultery: “Go and sin no more” (John 8:11). If she left there and continued in adultery, it was her problem. However, if she repented, God’s mercy reached her and she was saved.
Thus, God’s mercies have no end as long as there is a tomorrow. The end will happen someday, but if today a new day has dawned for you, there is mercy.
If you waste God’s mercies, you are destroyed by your own choices. However, if you change how you act and think, you will receive peace, forgiveness and the opportunity to move on and start from scratch.
