The UCKG HelpCentre is planning a bumper launch for the third and final volume of its founder, Bishop Edir Macedo’s, autobiography, Nothing to Lose, on Saturday 9 May. This takes place at the Rainbow Theatre, 232 Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park from 3pm to 5pm.
“We are expecting around 2,000 people to attend the launch and have their copies of the book signed by one of four UCKG HelpCentre bishops currently serving in London and across the UK,” said Bishop James Marques, the event organiser. “They are Bishop Randal Brito, who now leads the UCKG HelpCentre in the UK and is based at Finsbury Park, Bishop Frank Rathebe from Brixton branch, and Bishop Carlos Oliveira and myself, both senior managers in the charity.”
Like its predecessors, Nothing to Lose, Volume 3 develops the story of Bishop Macedo’s spiritual and human life, bringing it right up to date, although it is not written in chronological order. It does, however, delve deeply into the process by which the bishop attained spiritual maturity, and provides insights that could only otherwise have been gained by working closely with him for decades, as Bishop Randal has.
Having met Edir Macedo in the Abolição district of Rio de Janeiro in 1978, Bishop Randal’s first impression was that: “He was completely different from all I had seen before in the way he would pass the faith to us”.
A student at the time, the young Randal Brito was much attracted by Macedo’s sincerity, joined the church and served it in 11 countries across five continents over the ensuing 36 years. He observes that: “The UCKG HelpCentre is a church that matures through its leader’s spiritual maturity… and the knowledge of God is what’s most important”. Much of this is reflected in the book’s three volumes.
Volume 1 of Nothing to Lose came out in 2013 and became an immediate global best seller. It was followed, a year later by Volume 2, which was also a big success.
Just under 10,000 copies of volume 3 have been printed for the UK launch, along with another 1,500 in Portuguese, and with a steady demand for pre launch sales as in previous years, the print run is expected to sell out at the launch.
Further copies of Nothing to Lose Volume 3 will be available for purchase at all UCKG HelpCentre’s in the UK at a price of £12.50. For a list of HelpCentre’s nationwide, visit uckgnew.org/addresses.
