Blessing of the 7 Gates of Jerusalem: Lion’s Gate

Lions Gate

The Lion’s Gate, located on the eastern wall of the Old City, is one of the oldest of the seven historic gates built into the walls of Jerusalem. Its name comes from the striking lion sculptures that adorn its entrance. Although this gate is not directly mentioned in the Bible, it is situated in an area that holds profound biblical significance. The gate has a secondary name associated with an event that marks a pivotal moment in the history of faith, carrying important lessons for those who experience persecution and injustice.

Have you ever faced persecution at work, within your family, or in other areas of your life? Do you see yourself as a good person, yet struggle to understand why things often go wrong for you and why those around you treat you so badly?

Many people also face persecution for their faith, being criticised by family and friends who disapprove of their decision to follow Jesus. Perhaps you find yourself in this situation, having stopped attending church because you cannot endure the persecution, or maybe you still go to church but feel the need to hide your faith from your family to avoid conflict.

If this resonates with you, then Sunday, 23 March, will be a special and unmissable day. Join us at your nearest Universal Church as we continue the Blessing of the 7 Gates of Jerusalem. You will learn more about the Lion’s Gate, its secondary name, and the important event that took place there. This will be an opportunity to change how you view persecution and how you deal with it. You will also receive a special blessing to be strengthened and renewed.
