Are you upset with God?

Upset with God

Have you ever been upset with God?

Naomi from the Biblical book ‘Ruth’ was, when she returned to Israel widowed and childless.

She changed her name, which meant “sweetness”, to Mara, meaning “bitter” and justified herself: “I went out full, and the Lord has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the Lord has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?”

In other words, she blamed God for her losses and became bitter.

Similarly, many are like this. There are even those who stop believing and abandon their faith because they blamed God for their problems and allowed bitterness to enter their hearts.

We won’t always understand the reasons for why certain things happen in life. God allows this so that we would learn to trust even without understanding.

Most people don’t think about how much they have to trust without understanding, such as how a plane flies or a prescription they receive from a doctor. However, when it comes to God, they require explanations – this is simply due to a lack of trust.

Ruth, Naomi’s daughter-in-law, lost her husband and accompanied her mother-in-law to Israel, a foreign land that prohibited its men from marrying outsiders, but she decided to trust in God.

She believed and because of this faith, she married Boaz, became David’s grandmother and entered the genealogy of Jesus. Isn’t that wonderful?

This is what God does, He accepts those who are humble and place their trust in Him. But how can one trust someone they don’t know?
