Feast of the First Fruits,
“It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy…” (Proverbs 20:25)
What does it mean to ‘devour’ or touch what is holy?
Marriage, for example, is holy. However, when a husband or wife chooses to have an affair, they are interfering with the sanctity of the institution God has put in place.
Likewise, it is unholy when a person acquires something they have not paid for, breaking the law, and using what does not belong to them.
Adultery, stealing, deceit… maybe you can’t relate to these practices. You consider yourself to be a good person. However, there is another way of devouring what is holy, and this is something that specifically belongs to God.
When we use the first ten per cent of everything that comes into our hands for ourselves, we are touching what is holy because the first ten per cent belongs to God. This is a snare, and God cannot protect what we have or bless what is left.
With this understanding, all the faithful tithers – those who put God first and do not devour what is holy – will be anointed with the holy oil for the Feast of the First Fruits, where we will also determine that May will be a month of prosperity.
Join us on Sunday, 2 May at 10am.
