Head in the clouds

Christ, Epistle to the Ephesians, Epistle to the Philippians, God, Gospel of Matthew, Holy Spirit, Jesus, Lord, the way I clean, think a certain way, Thought, too bad to change, what we did wrong,

Head in the clouds

Do you recognize any of these comments: “You’re always distracted”; “You lose everything”; “The only reason you don’t lose your head is because it’s attached to your body”; “You’re irresponsible”; “You can’t do anything right” and the list can go on.

Normally these types of comments are directed at youths who have their “heads in the clouds” and are considered irresponsible.

When someone hears words like these, many thoughts can come to their mind

  • Self-pity: “It’s true, I am irresponsible”; “I can’t do anything right”; “I’m useless.”
  • Injustice: “But I tried my best”; “It’s not that bad”; “What a lack of patience!”
  • Indifference: “Yeah, this is just me”; “If they don’t want to, they don’t have to ask me anything”.

All thoughts lead us to act or think a certain way and when we have those thoughts, we won’t change who we are! We become stagnant! After all, we are either too bad to change, or they’re being unfair with us, or we don’t think that changing is worth it. These thoughts are useless for our development and don’t help us grow. Actually, they get in our way.

So, what do we do now?

There are two things we need to know in order to be different:

  1. Know what you don’t want to be.

Oddly enough, this is the hardest part. We need to be humble to realise that we are wrong. We are going to need to know what we did wrong, and that’s when critics are perfect for us, because they help us in this realisation process. We need to know what to do.

  1. Know what you’re going to do differently.

Imperfection is a part of us, so it’s natural to for us not to realise when we’ve made a mistake again. Then, we must find out!

If the way I clean my room is not the best, then what is the best way? Where should I start? How should I do it?

Take notes of how it went, take before and after pictures; put sticky notes everywhere so you won’t forget; they really help.

There’s a rule that I have, which helps me tremendously because I can never trust my memory!

Nobody likes to forget, but it’s not something we can control; it’s not on purpose, but we can prevent it. There’s a way to “swerve” our limitations and cause our head to become clear to absorb what God has to teach us!

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:8,9)
