salvation of our soul,
According to the Cambridge dictionary, a covenant is “a formal agreement or promise between two or more people.” Every day covenants are made between employees and employers, sellers and buyers and husbands and wives, just to mention a few examples. Countries also make covenants to ensure better development for both sides; they join forces to achieve mutual benefits. However, for a covenant to work, all parties involved must be willing to fulfil their part.
When a couple decide to get married, they do so because they love one another and want to spend their lives together. With marriage comes certain responsibilities that should be fulfilled by both husband and wife if they want that relationship to be lasting and successful. One of these responsibilities is fidelity.
The same principle applies when it comes to a covenant with the Most High. We are valuable to God because we have something priceless for Him: our soul. Therefore, He proposes a pact of fidelity to us; we give Him our soul and in return, He not only gives us a blessed life in this world but most importantly, the salvation of our soul. The best part is that unlike other covenants that can be broken, this one lasts forever!
The Lord Jesus is calling you to make an everlasting covenant with Him – or to renew your covenant, in case you already have one. Join us to take part in the Lord’s Supper on Wednesday, 24 November, at your local Universal Church. Don’t miss this special opportunity!
“This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.” (Luke 22:20).
