the Book of Proverbs,
Monday, 19 July 2021
It has taken 16 years for the UCKG to fulfil its ambition to establish a full time branch church in Woolwich. The inauguration of the new HelpCentre on the first floor of 115-123 Powis Street, SE18 6JL in the afternoon of Sunday 18 July was therefore a very special occasion indeed.
Pastor John Lima the senior pastor at the Woolwich HelpCentre opened the 90 minute inauguration service by dedicating the proceedings to God, in front of a socially distanced congregation of 120 regular attendees and newcomers. He was immediately followed by church member Ava Wills who testified about her life being transformed through faith in the face of suicidal thoughts and many tribulations.
Bishop James Marques, who leads the UCKG in the UK then came forward to invite further accounts of lives being turned around, and prayers for health were spoken by the pastors in attendance. One man claimed to have benefited physically through prayer, a woman from the Woolwich branch spoke of an improved emotional situation.
Bishop then cited Bible passages appropriate to a new church opening, and invited people to present their offerings. Pastor Fabio Marcolino joined him in prayer for the people’s finances.
Finally, a passage from the Book of Proverbs was quoted, seeking the Holy Spirit.
The Bishop and the pastors all knelt to pray for the life transformation of the people.
The pastors in attendance, in addition to Bishop and Pastor John, were Pastor Michael Oni from Catford Branch, Pastor James Martins from Finsbury Park branch and trainee pastor Joelmo who assists in Woolwich branch.
