On Friday, 9 July, the Universal Church will celebrate 44 years of existence. That isn’t just 44 years of the Universal Church being present in over 100 countries, but years of lives being changed all over the world, years of sacrifice, and years of testimonies.
You can go to any Universal Church in the world, and you will always find the same feature present, the focal point that is the foundation of every life transformation and testimony: an Altar. Even if you visit our church in an underdeveloped country, an Altar will be there. It is the first detail that is prioritised when a new church is in the works, and the first aspect to be finalised.
From the very first church inside a funeral parlour – mere, humble beginnings – the Altar was and remains the highest place in our church buildings. In all Universal Churches since then, this has been the secret – the Altar. This is why, no matter what persecutions the church faces or what difficulties arise, the Altar will always be how we achieve our victories!
For 44 years, the Universal Church has found and drawn strength and direction from the Altar. It is where we fight our battles. It is where we overcome.
The Altar is what makes the Universal Church. It is the one thing we cannot do without, and it will be at the core for many more anniversaries to come.
