acknowledge God’s existence, cry out to God,
In the most unusual place and unlikely circumstance, God saved an entire family. He used Paul and Silas, who had been beaten and throw into prison, to save the prison keeper who, when disaster had struck, wanted to resort to ending his life. As a result, his loved ones were also saved.
“But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.” (Acts 16:25-28)
Maybe you are facing a problem in your family that seems impossible to solve and the desperation has driven you to the point of contemplating giving up on life altogether. STOP! Do yourself no harm! There is a solution to your problem!
“So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31)
When the Bible says to believe, it’s meaning goes further than to just acknowledge God’s existence or what He has to say. To believe means to trust Him wholeheartedly, to follow, obey and give your life to Him.
“Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized.” (Acts 16:32-33)
No matter what state your family is currently in, God can perform an ‘earthquake’ that can break the wrong foundations and bring to life in your household the same miracle that took place in the prison keeper’s family.
Instead of being desperate like the keeper was, be like Paul and Silas who trusted God. Join us in the purpose of faith for the salvation of your family. Write down on paper the names of your loved ones who you want God to deliver and save, and bring those names to the 10am service this coming Sunday. From the 14th-21st February, every day at midnight – the hour when the earthquake happened – we will cry out to God on their behalf.
