Christian Church, Christian faith, Finsbury Park, Rainbow Theatre, Self-esteem, the power to change,
Thursday 16th April 2015
While small numbers of women are demonstrating their sense of self-worth and their values by standing as candidates in the general election, many, many more struggle with self-esteem.
To help these women meet their aim of building strong, happy relationships and eliminating the emotional deficit in their lives, the UCKG HelpCentre’s women’s group, Godllywood, will be running a women’s day seminar at the Rainbow Theatre, Finsbury Park, on Saturday 18 April. The event is free, and is open to all.
The two-hour event, which starts at 4pm, is themed around the concept of a woman’s value. The organisers recognise that women have a considerable influence on modern society, but acknowledge that this influence can go two ways — it can be positive or very negative.
When it swings towards the negative, the chances are that complexes, past traumas, resentment, hatred and perceived failures are retaining a hold on the women concerned and preventing them from reaching their full potential in life as a whole and in their relationships. The first step to turning this around is to ask for help, and this is the starting point for the women’s day event.
The guest speaker will be Bishop Randal Brito, who has recently been appointed to lead the UCKG HelpCentre in the UK. He will be drawing on many years’ experience of working in diverse cultures and communities to help attendees to see the power to change that they have within.
In addition there will be life stories of women who have succeeded in their struggles against massive odds, plus a motivational session with practical examples on how to become a strong woman from within and overcome past hurts, which should be left where they belong – in the past.
Flavia Barcelos, the vice leader of Godllywood in the UK said: “We have planned this event so that firstly it meets the needs of women who are currently struggling with a lack of self-worth. Secondly it will reinforce those who have either learnt to value themselves properly after past hurts or who have grown up with a good sense of their worth.
