Better Education Awareness – The Route to Career Success

Christian faith, East London, Finsbury Park, Rainbow Theatre, Seven Sisters Road, skills for life,

Better Education Awareness is the topic for the second Saturday briefing at the UCKG HelpCentre on Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, which takes place at 3pm on April 24.

Sponsored by the UCKG HelpCentre in partnership with the Greater London Authority, Islington Training Network, East London Skills for Life and the UCKG Training Centre, the event is for men and women who aspire to a promotion, a better job or a new career and need some guidance in getting there.

The aim is to draw attention to the wide range of adult training opportunities currently available across north and east London, with pacy presentations scheduled to run for just over an hour.  It will be followed immediately by an advice and guidance workshop.

Attendees will be able to seek information on an individual basis from a team of approximately 20 professional careers advisors provided by the participating organisations. An information pack with details of training provision currently available from specialised organisations and the government will also be available.

The keynote speaker is Agnieszka Lenton, learning and organisational development manager at the Greater London Authority.  She will be supported by several case study speakers who will share their experiences of adult education and training that led to successful careers in management, administration and IT roles.

Speaking for the UCKG Community Outreach Team running the event, Marco Andrade said: “Self improvement and career progression are important to many people and will certainly be a consideration for the next government as we rebuild the economy, whoever wins the General Election.

“In theory, we all know that better skills and better jobs are necessary if we aspire to higher pay and more fulfilling careers and lifestyles.  However people often don’t understand how the job market works.  As a consequence they can be poorly equipped to progress when they could do so easily with a little guidance and qualifications.

The briefing is the second in a monthly series of free outreach events that the UCKG HelpCentre has launched for the whole of 2010.
