The Give Warmth Appeal, organised by the Community Outreach of the Universal Church aims to bring warmth, comfort, and a smile to those spending time in hospitals. Throughout December, the Children’s Biblical Centre (CBC) and the Patient Care Group (PCG) across the UK are committed to spreading kindness to patients and healthcare staff through thoughtful gestures that bring joy to their day.
The CBC is a dedicated space for teaching children aged 0-10 years, where our team of DBS-checked educators and helpers deliver weekly lessons based on Biblical teachings and principles. These lessons emphasise key values such as obedience to parents, kindness, respect for others, and the importance of generosity. As part of this appeal, the children will handwrite messages of encouragement for young hospital patients, which will be accompanied by donated toys to bring joy and comfort to those in need. Additionally, a special hamper will be delivered to the hospital staff on the paediatric wards as a gesture of appreciation.
The PCG is a dedicated group of volunteers committed to easing the burden of illness on patients and their families by offering friendship and support. On request, these volunteers provide companionship and a listening ear, regularly visiting patients in hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, or their own homes. They also support the families of patients when needed. This month, the group will bring gifts along with cards containing friendly and inspiring messages to uplift patients during their hospital stay. Specially prepared hampers will also be delivered to acknowledge and celebrate the tireless efforts of the hospital staff.
What makes the Give Warmth Appeal truly special is its timing. During the festive season, many patients face the difficult reality of being away from their loved ones. The initiative seeks to bridge this gap by spreading love, care, and thoughtfulness to those who need it most.
Together, we can ensure that no one feels alone or forgotten during the holiday season by spreading warmth, one smile at a time.
