The creation of Adam and Eve marked the beginning of God’s divine project: the family. God instructed them to multiply and rule over the Earth (Genesis 1:26). This highlights the significance of family, which is His most important project.
Our families are the most precious thing we possess, but unfortunately, the institution of family has been under attack for a long time. Opposing ideas and concepts are spread by individuals, politicians, activists, media outlets and even laws that question the importance of family in the modern world, eroding its values and principles. This is evident, for instance, in the increasing divorce rates and the rise of single-parent households.
Today, various societal pressures, such as busy schedules and the overuse of technology, can strain family relationships. The biggest danger lies in the fact that, despite any resistance, the family is still the foundation of society. So, when families are under attack, society is inevitably affected as well. Therefore, we can conclude that many of the problems we are experiencing today can be traced back to issues within the family nucleus.
Studies have shown the impact of broken families on society, revealing that individuals coming from broken homes often struggle with trust issues, low self-esteem, and have a higher risk of developing mental health problems. This background can also hinder their ability to form healthy relationships in the future, perpetuating an endless vicious cycle.
What would you do if you knew your home or car was at risk of being robbed or damaged? You would certainly take all necessary measures to protect those assets and prevent this from happening, right? The same principle applies to family. We must do our utmost to safeguard our families from any threats. And what better way to achieve this than by allying ourselves with the One who created the family – God?
He understands each of our relatives, desires the best for us and holds all the answers we need, providing peace and direction through hardships. Invite God to be part of your family, protecting it from threats, restoring it from any harm that may have already affected it and building a strong family foundation.
