Husband Refuses to Share IVF Costs, Blaming Wife for Infertility

Husband refuses IVF costs
The emotional, financial, and physical stress of fertility treatments can put even the strongest relationships to the test. While some couples navigate these challenges together, others may struggle with sharing the burden.

Recently, a woman sparked debate online after revealing that her husband has left her to manage the cost of IVF treatment by herself as she is the one experiencing infertility.

Posting on Reddit, she shared her frustration, explaining that after 13 years of marriage and unsuccessful attempts to conceive, their struggles have put pressure on their relationship. She acknowledges her medical condition is the cause for their difficulties in conceiving. While both have been affected by the emotional toll, she suggested IVF as an option. Initially, her husband appeared open to the idea, but his attitude shifted when the financial aspect became clear.

Despite having enough savings, her husband hesitated due to uncertainty success rate of IVF, pointing out the potential need for multiple treatments. When she suggested sharing the cost together, he responded that since the infertility issue was hers, she should bear the cost alone.

Her reaction was one of shock. She states: “I couldn’t even muster a response to what he said. I felt so hurt I exploded on him and he acted like I was being unreasonable, and then said he was not obligated to pay for “my own medical issues”. I lost it and decided to pack my stuff and go stay with my mother.” Since then, the only contact from him has been a text saying, “Truth hurts” after she refused his phone call.
