Throughout our lifetime, we will receive many words – both positive and negative. Words hold a great amount of power, and the ones we choose to keep, have a huge impact on the outcome of our lives.
Unfortunately, it is usually the negative words we hear that stick the most, leading to a negative outlook on life and low self-esteem.
However, when a person chooses to place their dependence on the Word of God, He fills them with self-worth and a vision for their future.
This was the main message last Wednesday in the special Real Talk, for the youths of the Victory Youth Group (VYG). It took place at the Cathedral of Miracles and was held by Bishop Miguel Lacerda, who oversees the work of the Universal Church in Israel.
The youths who were present were encouraged to remember these words:
“I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:2 NKJV)
Bishop explained that these were the words that began a transformation inside of him. From a young boy who was insecure and full of many inferiority complexes to someone who had hope and confidence in who God was moulding him to become.
“I never heard these words from my father. I never had my father coming to me and saying, my son, dad loves you so much, you are going to be the best…” explained Bishop Miguel.
However, when he came to the church in his youth, broken and rejected by his family, he believed in the promises of God. Therefore, “God healed my interior, He made me see how valuable I am, He removed the traumas and filled me with the Holy Spirit – that is, He made me a blessing!”
No matter the colour of your skin, your past or the mistakes you’ve made, God is ready to accept your life as it is and give you a new one. The youths understood that God wants to give them a new identity and a hopeful future, but they must believe and hold on to the Word of God.
The Victory Youth Group (VYG) is a youth network hosted by the Universal Church in our local Universal Churches, for anyone aged between 14-25. If you or someone you know could benefit from this work, you can get involved at your nearest branch!
