Holy Week

Holy-Week-News

In Biblical times, it was common for kings to make triumphal entries into a city. So, when Jesus entered into Jerusalem on a donkey and the people of that city lay palm leaves before Him, they were receiving the Lord Jesus as their King.

“The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!” (John 12:12-13)

However, on Friday of that week, He was crucified in the same place where He was received as King. The Lord Jesus already knew that this would happen but it was necessary for the sacrifice to occur because it was the only way to save us from hell.

Palm Sunday, the day in which Jesus entered Jerusalem, marks the beginning of the Holy Week. From then on, Jesus taught us valuable lessons through important actions which took place every day leading up to His death on the Cross and His resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Do you know the meaning behind some of the key events that occurred during that week, such as Jesus’ cleansing of the Temple, the anointing at Bethany or the washing of the disciples’ feet?

We invite you to relive the steps of the Lord Jesus. Let’s remember what He did for us in the most important week in human history!

To commemorate these events and learn more about what happened on this special week, join us at your local Universal Church every day from ‘Palm Sunday’, until ‘Easter Sunday’ for the Remember Me event. Every day of the week will be special.

The purpose of the Fast of Daniel is in preparation for “Holy Week” and will end on March 31st. If you are not participating but would like to join us, know that there is still time. Find more information here.
