At any time, bad news can surprise you. That is, a termination of employment, an almost sale that was not concluded, a contract that was not signed, a loss, among many others.
But your reaction in those situations is what makes all the difference. The right reaction can be the beginning of your victory, but the wrong reaction can spiral out of control and result in failure.
“And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.” (2 Chronicles 20:3 NKJV)
During a fast you become sensitive to the voice of God and when you pray you surrender all your worries and anxieties into His hands. Resulting in inner peace and security.
When you make use of your faith, the plans of the devil are frustrated. On the other hand, if you don’t make use of your faith, you accept the situation as it is and conform.
Know that your reaction to bad news is what makes all the difference.
It is inevitable to feel fear, but you can overcome it. Jehoshaphat was also afraid, after all, he was a human being, like us. Nonetheless, his reaction was to seek God, leaving us an example of faith.
Face whatever it takes, don’t let fear stop you, dominate you. Furthermore, stop looking at what weakens you, your doubts, problems. If you focus on that, you will become weak, but if you look to God you will become strong.
God may allow a problem in your life, but He will give you the victory if you do what is right, which is to use your faith.
“And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15 NKJV)
Do like them, give your problems, struggles and setbacks to Him, because He has never lost a battle and it is not yours that He will lose.
Now that you know that this bad news came for you to pray more, do exactly that! Use your faith and glorify God with this battle, as He will fight with you and reward you in due time.
