The National Silver Sunday last week, aimed at tackling loneliness and isolation in seniors nationwide, provided attention, care and help to the elderly through the endless events which were hosted on this day.
Lord Mayor, Cllr Patricia McAllister, sat in various events across London such as bingo, a dance show and tea at The Wallace Collection.
In Westminster, the Sir Simon Milton Foundation gave residents the chance to visit places such as the London Zoo and other famous attractions in Central London. This was one of the thousands of events which took place on the day.
These events were a huge success, and was an opportunity to show the elderly who were benefitted that they are a valuable part of the community.
In support of this amazing cause, the Patient Care Group (PCG) from the Universal Church in Edmonton visited Bupa Care Home to host activities for the residents.
The 10 volunteers who participated, helped to entertain, encourage and serve light refreshments to the residents.
“It was a real pleasure going to the care home. It was nice to spend time with the residents who were grateful to receive us and appreciated our visit.” said one of the volunteers who helped on the day.
Both the residents and staff were thrilled at the care and enthusiasm of the volunteers and look forward to receiving them for future projects.
