On Saturday, 16 September, the greatest Victory Youth Group (VYG) event yet took place at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre – Mega Dance UK.
The doors opened at 12:30pm and welcomed more than 1700 youths, from all over the UK who travelled to take part of this memorable occasion.
The event comprised of various dance and song performances, as well as a competition between 6 dance crews from different regions in the UK.
The competitors had more than a month to prepare for this live performance, however there was only one winner. The lively NRG (North Region Grinders) dance crew took it home with their colourful and catchy number which left the audience dancing along in their seats.
Gloria, one of the dancers in the NRG dance crew expressed, “My experience being a part of the NRG performance was great! It was more than just the event itself, but everything we had to do leading up to the day which made it that much more memorable. It was so nice to see that everyone enjoyed watching the dance as much as we loved performing it. I would 100% love to do it again!”
Following the dance competition, the youths heard the real-life stories of some young people whose lives have changed since attending and applying the messages received at the VYG meetings.
To conclude, the coordinator of the work of the Universal Church in the UK, Bishop James, delivered a message for everyone to reflect on. We do not have control over the choices others make against us or for us, but we can control the choices we make. It’s what we decide to do today which will have a greater impact on our future.
All in all, this event was a success and many youths who attended for the first time look forward to returning to the VYG in their local Universal Church.
