The word of God explicitly says:
“You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.” (1 Corinthians 10:21)
However, the Lord Jesus wasn’t speaking about a physical table.
You can analyse and conclude which table you have been sitting at by examining the choices you have been making and comparing them to the principles of God. When our lives are aligned with the will of God, we are choosing to partake of the Lord’s table.
This involves letting go of harmful habits, negative influences, foul language and even destructive thoughts or mentalities. By doing so, we are not only accepting the invitation to sit and dine with Jesus here on earth (which is to live a free and fulfilled life) but we are also securing our place in the Kingdom of Heaven.
The moment of the Lord’s Supper is a time for self-examination and decision-making. Those who recognise that they are far from God receive the opportunity to humble themselves before God and seek His forgiveness.
Through the Bible, we know that the Lord’s Supper symbolises the sacrifice that the Lord Jesus made on the Cross, to rescue those who obey Him from eternal death:
“And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” (Luke 22:19-20)
That’s why this ceremony is so essential, it renews our relationship with God which in turn strengthens our spirit and soul.
All those who give value to their soul fight to preserve their salvation and by taking part of the Lord’s Supper you are investing in exactly this, no matter where you currently stand in your walk of faith.
For an opportunity to sit and dine at the Lord’s table, don’t miss the Lord’s Supper which will be taking place this Wednesday at your local Universal Church at 7:30pm, or at any service during the day.
You can prepare yourself for this meeting by arriving early, making a short prayer before the Altar and sitting down as close to the front.
You can spend the time before the meeting to reflect on your communion with God and meditate on the Bible. That way, when the service begins, your mind will already be connected to God and ready to receive the word of faith which has been prepared to bless you.
