We’ve all heard the phrase, “You are what you listen to.” But have you ever stopped to think about just how true that really is? Every day, we are surrounded by sounds—music, conversations, advertisements, and background noise—all of which subtly influence our thoughts and emotions.
Have you ever caught yourself humming a song you barely remember hearing? Perhaps you walked out of a shop and suddenly found yourself singing along to a tune from the background music. It’s fascinating how our minds absorb what we hear, often without us even realising it.
From the news we consume to the lyrics of our favourite songs, the things we listen to profoundly impact our mood, mindset, and even our decisions.
Think about it—what do you intentionally (or unintentionally) listen to every day? Is it music, podcasts, conversations, radio shows, or social media clips? More importantly, are these influences uplifting, or do they bring negativity into your life?
If you want to cultivate a positive mindset and strengthen your faith, it’s important to engage in content that nourishes your spirit and helps you grow.
What we listen to plays a crucial role in defending our faith. Defending our faith does not mean engaging in debates with those who aim to create confusion, as this can weaken our spiritual foundation. That is why it is essential to stay connected to the things of God. We must be mindful of what we expose ourselves to, ensuring that nothing compromises our faith or endangers our salvation. Faith is essential for both receiving and maintaining salvation.
Romans 10:17 reminds us: “…faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
