We are now entering the final week of the Fast of Daniel – a special 21-day purpose designed to encourage people to step back from distractions that do not contribute to their spiritual growth, and draw closer to God.
Many individuals assume that developing a closer relationship with God is quite simple. In their view, regularly attending church fulfils their spiritual “commitment.” However, this could not be further from the truth. Establishing a genuine connection with God requires more than just these actions; it involves continuous communication with Him through prayer, Bible meditation and, above all, learning to hear His voice and obey His guidance.
In the midst of the countless distractions in our daily lives, cultivating this connection can be challenging. God is always eager to communicate with us, yet our busy schedules often prevent us from listening to His voice.
The Fast of Daniel provides an opportunity to enhance our communication with the Almighty and strengthen our spiritual lives. This fast is not about abstaining from food, but rather about stepping away from secular information, social media, music, movies, series and any content that does not relate to our faith.
More than just a 21-day break from entertainment and information, this fast also encourages participants to devote more time to deepening their relationship with God, pleasing Him, meditating on His Word, and seeking His Holy Spirit. By redirecting the energy usually spent on social media, for example, participants can focus instead on spiritual matters.
Although the Fast of Daniel lasts for 21 days, the beneficial habits developed during this period can be sustained even after the fast concludes. These habits are not only good for our spiritual lives but also help to keep our minds clear – much like a mental detox. Therefore, even if you haven’t started the Fast of Daniel yet, you can still join in!
The fast will conclude with the highly anticipated Life Shift event, so take advantage of the remaining days leading up to the event to invest in your faith and stay in spirit to make the most of this amazing event that will take place on Easter Sunday.
