Valerie Sowards, 6 years old, and her father, Ben, live in the state of Utah, in the United States, and starred in a moment that went viral on social media. It’s just that the little girl ended up peeing her pants while she was at school and, so embarrassed, she called her parents dela crying, asking them to go get her dela. To support and cheer up his daughter, Ben threw water in his own pants before arriving at school. Seeing him, Valerie burst out laughing and was more relaxed about the situation.
The girl’s older sister photographed the moment and posted it on a social network, and the image was widely shared. “My little sister had an ‘accident’ today at the nursery and my father went to pick her up like this ( picture above ) so that she wouldn’t be so sad/embarrassed” , wrote the young woman.

“When a child or young person faces a problem , they tend to use their emotions, get nervous, scream, cry, etc. At these times, many parents criticize these wrong reactions and also use their emotions, when they should expect to have control”, explained Cristiane Cardoso.
Valerie’s story shows how to practice Cristiane’s advice, how a father can react to a child’s problem. If Ben arrived nervous or upset to pick up his daughter, she would feel much worse and that would create distance between them. If the parents do not know how to deal with the situation, in addition to the children having their own problems, they will have a problem with them, who did not have the wisdom to help them. Thus, the last thing the child will want is to open up to the parents.
“If you deal with his (son’s) problem emotionally, what will he learn? That he can also react the same way, because you show that you have lost control . You don’t need to give solutions, but teach them to think about them, what they can do about them”, added fellow speaker Renato Cardoso.
