Known in the 1990s for her attention-grabbing beauty, now 56-year-old Canadian supermodel Linda Evangelista is hiding after undergoing a cosmetic procedure that left her irreversibly deformed.
Recently, on her Instagram profile, Linda vented when she told why she was isolated from the public for five years. She performed a procedure on her face to reduce fat, but the effect was the opposite.
She says: “I developed paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, a risk I was not made aware of before undergoing the procedures. This not only destroyed my livelihood, it put me in a cycle of great depression, deep sadness, and the lowest levels of self-loathing. In the process, I became reclusive.”
illusory tendency
In a scenario where more and more people are looking for aesthetic changes, research points to a significant increase in demand for procedures such as facial harmonization. However, the results have not always been satisfactory. Psychologist Vania Campos assesses that the desire to take care of appearance and body is not the problem, however, it is necessary to understand what motivates this desire for perfection.
“On social media, everyone looks happy, beautiful, with perfect skin, and many people start comparing themselves and asking themselves, ‘Why don’t I look like this?’ People create a fantasy of perfection”, points out the expert.
As if the media and Hollywood films were not enough, now social networks, with their beautifying filters, have also endorsed the desire for impeccable appearance.
But how to find true beauty?
While many run in search of unreal beauty and look younger and younger, they leave aside the true value gained from life experience. Writer and presenter Cristiane Cardoso explains the importance of recognizing this.
“As time goes by, the appearance of the body may not improve, but the person inside gets stronger and better, because every time we learn something about ourselves, we rejuvenate and improve in our own eyes, not in the eyes of others. others,” she said.
In this way, true beauty is within us, not outside. So instead of looking for constant improvements in appearance, look for inner improvement that is lasting and real.
